Beachcomber

He said "I'll be damned if you don't remind me of Ulysses
I was never one for reading you
Although I tried my very hardest on several occasions
Guess I never had the patience"
What a shame, what a waste of a thousand pages
They function better as ideas anyway
So I set a course for the horizon
Watched the coastline disappear behind me
All the while I was secretly hoping
That a beachcomber may someday find
A little part of me left over
Fossilized
She reflected upon a deeply conscious shining moment
Like a windscreen wiper swept away the haze
And all at once she motioned, "My landscape has been titled"
But the conversation dissipated
What a shame, she was met by a thousand blank faces
As the pages of Ulysses softly fade

Negativity Spiral

Daydreaming post-apocalyptia
Obituary to the late Great Barrier
Reality prime-time gameshow President
My mistake; I just fell asleep with the TV on again
This world is built on repetition
Just killing time
And life's made up of the in between
Me and my self-deprecation
Negativity Spiral
Back to the land of woebegone
Nurturing an impeding dystopia
Devolution into hikikomoria
Public access Elvis Presley death denialists
Pass the Soma; I'm owed another dose of happiness
Society's built on repetition
Just killing time
And life's made up of the in between
Me and my self-deprecation
Negativity Spiral
Back to the land of woebegone

Magician's Assistant

I'm the magician's assistant
I'm squeezed inside the box
The body contorted
The only real illusion's that I'm gone
See the magician's a master
At concealing all within
His flashy show just a distraction
All the while I'm waiting in the wing
Watching a man become as phony as his act
While the audience applaud
For he knows there's no such thing as magic
And I'll be right back with him
Just as soon as the crowds are gone
I'm the magician's assistant
